This
is the story
of a hot young spice company run by two best friends. Lakshmi, a
poor spice monger, needed the help of Emma, a poor graphic designer.
Brainstorming over Chinese buffet and mucking horse stall meetings,
they envisioned the company which would save them both and one day
the world. Voila Masala was born! Lakshmi Sundaram is a mother with
a stay at home on the farm vision driven by the rhythm of SRV's
Chitlins Con Carne and a penchant for ethereal quotes. If you make
the most of what you have, and live life with passion, you'll get
everything you want! Lakshmi wants Voila Masala to make people happy.
Emma-Davida Catmur babysat Lakshmi's kids and caused Lakshmi to
buy a crazy mare named Java. Emma and Lakshmi did some riding, stall
cleaning and lots of bad girl talk together. So many ideas, something
had to happen. Emma has an energy around her that makes everyone
smile. Emma wants Voila Masala to look as good as it tastes.
The
meeting between two personalities
Is like the contact of two chemical substances
If there is any reaction
Both are transformed

Voila Masala's source of inspiration is its environment. Looking out
over the Gatineau hills, the view is as smooth and delicious
as Cassandra Wilson's chocolate voice. There is lots of window gazing
done here, lots of dreaming, dreams don't cost anything,
so they can be as big as you like. |

| Our
Bouvier des Flandres dogs Xena and Kulfi help us herd our horses and
sheep and protect the chickens. Xena and Kulfi work hard to earn their
spot on the kids beds at night. Penelope, Pandora, Cher and Lolita
and Cyd. Are St Croix sheep. Penelope is and adultress and had an
illegitimate lamb (crossed with an unknown wool sheep) and then rejected
it. Java, Masala, Tory and Yoko are moody mares that look extremely
pretty ( only when they want to) in the pasture behind the house.
The animals keep Voila Masala in the present tense. |

| Seb,
Chris and Olivier are tireless packagers, always ready (even if it
means missing school), to pull on those rubber gloves and face mask.
They are the support system of Voila Masala. Michel is the display
maker and comes up with all our great spice names. He has phenomenal
ideas and a never ending good spirit which keeps Lakshmi from falling
off that cliff called sanity. Michel wants Voila Masala to make enough
money so he quit his job and plant trees. And then comes Mathew who
basically takes care of everything else and looks damn good while
doing it (Mathew is a model!). Thanks guys!! |

And
of course we have gotta thank all those "I've got a great idea",
listeners out there. We are going to be millionaires! No thanks
to
Kulfi, Xena and Gerty who are all extremely bad dogs! A big thank
you to all the chefs, supporters and customers who give us endless
ideas and creative freedom.
